Great, not perfect

So here are the things I like about this knife. Joe X did a review of this knife on youtube. He abuses each knife he tests until failure. Every knife eventually fails. The fact is that this knife took one hell of a lot of abuse to break it. More than any 30ish bucks knife really could be expected to ever endure, more than many knives he's tested in the past, most of which cost many TIMES as much as this one. So it's durable and cheap, and it will endure way more than anything I'll ever subject it to. To be honest, before I saw that review I was simply tempted to give the knife away. The rest of the good stuff, the knife feels good in my hand, right side up and upside down. It's well balanced, and I like the overall shape and grind of the blade. Here are the things I don't like. The sheath is too flimsy. I could see myself re-sheathing the knife and it going right through the thin flexible leather and straight into my leg. I took a piece of thin kydex and made a liner for it. I wouldn't and couldn't carry the knife in this sheath as supplied and feel safe about it. I cut the dangler off and I may eventually sew a stouter belt loop on it. Or, I may just make a replacement kydex sheath for it. The scales are nice enough, but poorly shaped and matched. Since I've decided to keep the knIfe I'll be removing them, sanding them so they are smoother and better matched left to right, re-staining them and then probably giving them several coats of boiled linseed oil or tung oil. Finally there's that crazy finish. IDK what that is. It looks and feels like some sort of clear lacquer over blued steel. It's GOT to go. I'll be stripping if off, sanding the whole thing MUCH smoother, then I'll decide if I just want to apply another bluing or maybe cerakoting it. One last note to beavercraft, cut a smaller opening in the end of the tang, you've removed too much metal there and made it weaker then it should be, it doesn't take much of a hole to thread a lanyard through. So at this point you're probably thinking I hate the knife. Nope, for the price I think it's a decent value just as it comes. If I didn't think the raw materials had enough intrinsic value I wouldn't be doing any of the above. There's a silk purse in this sow's ear. When I'm done, it will be a proud member of my collection.

Good quality

Good quality knife I will say though I had to sharpen it when it arrived but that's no big deal. Seems nice and sturdy and I like the addition of the paracord and the QR code link to different ways to tie it to the knife. Leather sheath seems to be of good quality overall and happy with the purchase. The reason I gave it four stars was just due to the fact of the knife not being very sharp on arrival.

Great Knife for the Money!

I needed an inexpensive knife to keep with my camping gear and this one ended up being better than expected. The blade is sharp enough to shave with (literally shaved the hair off my arm) and it is wide and heavy enough that you can whack it with something if needed to chop kindling or branches.I like that it feels like something home-made instead of something mass produced. It is made in Ukraine according to the box and I'm cool with that.

it is a $30 knife

Full tang. fit and finish a smidge better than my BPS's. sheath not nearly as good the leather is about half as thick and the stitching is not as beefy seems like it is not really a knife for specifically anything. not a combat knife not a bushcraft knife not a survival knife not a chopper but compared to my 30 or so other knives it will do a little of everything.do not expect it to be a Tops BOB or a Gerber Strongarmsmall spots to throw sparks, sharp, good mid size knife not sure what the gimping is for maybe someone with a smaller hands?not really sure what the idea behind the shape of the pommel is supposed to do, maybe help make a spoon? To me it a a knife for the occasional outdoor adventurer that is looking for a good value for a knife of this size.Maybe good for a preteen that is asking for a knife but is not ready for a $100 plus knife

Popped stitches in sheath

The craft of the blade and handle are great. The leather work is also nice. The only issue I had were the stitches being popped and the point of the blade would fall through the end of the sheath. Quick fix with some waxed leather thread. Now it's good to go.
