How to Finish Wood Carvings with Beeswax
Beeswax is one of the simplest finishes to start with on hand-carved projects. It soaks into the wood rather than building a thick coating, so the surface keeps its natural feel while the grain becomes more visible. Our blend adds linseed oil to the wax, which makes it a beeswax and oil wood finish in one product.
Take a small amount of wax on a cotton cloth and rub it evenly over the whole surface. Let the first coat dry for 3–4 hours before adding the next one, and apply two to three coats in total. After the third coat, leave the piece to dry for 20–25 hours.
Beeswax suits indoor carvings, figurines and decorative pieces best, while projects that stay outdoors in sun and rain need a layered finish with stronger protection. Choose the 35 g size to try beeswax on your first projects or the 60 g size if you finish carvings regularly.
