This hatchet is amazing. I was considering to pay 250$ for some other brand but decided to give a shot to this cheaper version. It works perfectly and you won’t be able to tell a difference. Maintain it, keep it sharp and will last you a life time.

The curve of the blade is spot-on for hollowing out bowls and shaping spoons. It effortlessly glides through wood, making the carving process a breeze. The edge was razor-sharp out of the box and has held up beautifully through numerous projects.

I'm repeatedly impressed with the value of Beavercraft products, and this carving axe is no exception! Where else will you find a forged hatchet for this price? Nowhere that I know of! Now, as you can see in the pictures modified it to suit my particular needs. I gave the edge a slight curve and drew the bevels out finer to accommodate my style of cutting. Easily done even by an amateur who is patient and observant. Otherwise any competent bladesmith or tool finisher should be able to help you.

Unlike an axe, an adze scoops out the wood rather than splitting it and so you want to attend to the curve on the blade. This is a good middle of the road curvature. It is not so flat that the corners dig in, and not so U shaped that you get deep, narrow valleys. The head is firmly attached with a metal and wood wedge (see photo). While most folks use these for woodworking and woodcraft, they can also do double duty as a sharp yard/garden tool and I have been known to take one to stubborn invasive bushes and new trees with good effect.

This small axe makes short work of 100-year-old Birds Eye maple! It will make roughing in spoons 20 times easier than my old way. Very impressed. Easy to control, Super Sharp, really happy with the product.

Been waiting on the Beavercraft Adze to be available for a couple months. I was so excited when it became available. It works extremely well. I used it on a silver maple. I’m msking a set of bar stools and the adze is great for some of the work I needed to do on them.
